The reproductive health statistics in our state are troubling. For instance, Mississippi has the nation’s 3rd highest teen birth rate. In an era where maternal mortality rates are declining all over the world, Mississippi’s has been climbing for over a decade and is the 4th highest in the nation. Over 58,000 Mississippi women do not have access to health insurance or Medicaid coverage for reproductive or maternal health services. Access to reproductive health care and information can help women and their families thrive, especially when it comes to educational attainment, economic security, and overall well-being.
